Reading a gcode file

Posted · Reading a gcode file

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the plastic 3d printing world and I'm still trying to understand all the different ways to tweak things. I was wondering if there's a way to read the details of a gcode file. I have a print  file from an older sd card that i wanted to view the print setting to modify.  I'm currently using Cura 4 to modify files. any suggestions?

A gcode file contains instructions to move around a print head and heat up a hotend. It generally does not include any "settings". It could be that the settings are included as comments in the gcode file. Some settings, such as temperatures can be inferred from the gcode file. But there is no general way to go from a gcode file back to settings and a model.
