Solenoid

Hello Everyone. Hope everyone is doing well. I am new to this forum and I would like to hear your suggestions on a question that I have on 3d printed materials. I am trying to build a custom solenoid and based on my research the most suggestion for the solenoid core is electrical steel. I was planning to 3d print the core due to some design considerations. I was wondering if there are any other alternatives in the 3d printing materials list which has a high permeability and stress loading capacity similar to Steel.

Thank you. Stay safe and have a great day!!

Hi @vishaish, thank you for your post and welcome to the community. I needed to check with one of our product experts to see which material would best suit your needs, and we have a few materials you could check out.

    • Ultrafuse 316L. Not the most effortless or affordable materials among the others, but the only real solution if you want to print with steel.
    • PC. A material like PC is known to be very strong and could potentially provide you with loading capacity you are looking for.
    • Carbon fiber Nylon. A material with carbon fiber usually has good conductivity and is rather stiff.
    • PC-ABS also contains conductive additives which provide it with good conductivity and also has a high toughness and impact strength.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes and if you have any further questions!
