Infill and Supports

Hi

I have successfully printed a Tyre (134mm) but i have a question i need sorting.

I want the infill of the tyre to be thesame as the print TPU filament as it works great and gives the tyre a nice flex and support under load, but i want the support material external to the tyre (so not the infill) to be PVA, but i cannot seem to achieve it, is it possible please?

Cheers Malc

    Hello,

I am guessing, based on your results, that the 3D model you are using for the tyre, is hollow, like a car tyre.  In which case, what you have is not infill per say, but Support that is sitting on the model, not touching the top plate.

I do not know if it is possible to identify one extruder for supports touching build plate, and a different extruder for supports sitting on the model. Another user may be able to answer that.

I also do not know your CAD capabilities, and where you got your 3D model, but the simpliest thing would be to modify the original CAD model to be filled solid, where you want the infill, then save a new .stl etc. for Cura. Inside Cura just set the infill percent , and the inside of the tyre will be made with the same TPU extruder as the outer walls.

    Good luck.
