Small extra support bits

Hello,

 

When I turn on support, these little extra bits get generated (the little parts underneath the holes in the first picture, and the jagged things in the second). What are they for? They're too far away from the holes to really do anything I can see, and in this case will probably just pop off during the print, and the second one I had to file that surface to get it smooth again. Is there a setting to turn them off?

Try turning off Use Towers.
