Posted (edited) · Generate support in specific areas

I'm having some usability issues with generating support structures.

I only want to generate supports for the entire bottom of the model and for a small part on top of the model.

My initial plan was to set the "support placement" setting to "touch buildplate" and create an eraser for the top part where I would set "support placement" to "everywhere" where it would apply only to the selected area. But I can't find an option to change the "support placement" in a specific area. This issue is illustrated in image2.

If I set it to everywhere for the entire model I get supports in weird places (marked red in image1). I understand that I can achieve what I want with support blockers but I have rings and a lot of tiny shapes in the back that would require 10+ support blockers, so I would like to avoid this option.

Is there a more efficient way to do this?

TLDR; I would like to generate the green supports without generating the red supports as illustrated in image1.

EDIT: I just noticed the text on image2 isn't very clear. The selection from the dropdown is "cutting mesh" and the enabled option is "generate support".
