Posted · How to use Materials together with Profile, the best way?

Good morning to all.
I beg your pardon but, Iìve searched into this forum and on other resources trying to clearify my problem with no luck.
The question is: how cura is thought to use "materials" section with "printing profiles"?

Since the beginning of my "3d printing life" I was used to:

  • start from one of the four default printing profiles
  • perform my customization (flowrate, temp, line width,..)
  • save with a name representing the brand, the colour and some other hints (e.g. azurefilm_pla_black).

Then I realized that "materials" settings brought some very important data about filament (the section for istance) so, I started duplicate some material profiles (paying attention not to catch the one unavailable for my Ender 3), renaming it, and filling with my custom data (even printing temperature).

Now the question is: I have "temperature field" in both, "materials" and "profile printing" sections but which one do I have to use? One overrides the other?

To use "materials" and "printing profiles" is it a feature thought for some user with more than one printer?

I'd like to use Cura as better as possible so, that's why I'm boring you with my question.
Thank you very much.
