Good afternoon

we have been printing with Cura on our 2 head, IDEX printer and getting great results.  The printer is metal ready and we have a spool of Ultrafuse 316L and the Ceramic support. The Cura 5.2 supports metal printing with BASF and has created special profile, allowing a few essential things.

1. basic profile for the Ultrafuse 316L and the Ceramic Support

2. special printing of a baseplate that goes under the parts to control shrinkage and warping

3. layer support detection and using the second head to build the Ceramic layer, which is very thin and it seems solid - unique to metal printing with Ultrafuse.

4. controlling the specifics of the print profile, such as print speed, % of extrusion/over extrusion, reversing direction of the print head to relieve stress, auto scaling for post processing and sintering, etc. etc.

we would like to install this in our IDEX printer but i cannot seem to find any clear information as to how to do this.

any guidance, thoughts, support would be extremely helpful, we have uploaded the profiles but the printer does not recognise and I understand there may be other steps to take, we have a large project of a series of limited edition parts to produce and believe that this process may lead the best results.

thank you in advance.

    Hey @thomas_nomad,

The BASF Ultrafuse316L printing process is really delicate.
UtliMaker and BASF worked together closely to make alterations to accomodate for them.

But making the process work on another 3D printer is not something I'm familiar with. I believe that the best way to get the information you need for the IDEX machines, is to reach out to the IDEX manufacturer here: https://www.bcn3d.com/community/

    Good luck! 💪
