My workplace has recently upgraded from Cura 4.9.x to 5.2.2, and I've noticed weird supports being produced. Is this due to some sort of optimisation of the support engine, or is this a bug?

5.2.2

Note the area beneath the tips of the dragon's dear, as well as the strange horizontal slices of support around the tip of the nose

    Hey @MakerspaceAuckland,

Welcome to the UltiMaker Community 🎉
I think you might be seeing this.

The new Cura 5.3 Stable contains quite a number of support improvements.
Could you test if that's the case for your model as well?
You can download it here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/releases/tag/5.3.0

If that's not it, I'll need a little bit more information from you.
Do you have a project file for us? It contains the printer and settings we need for troubleshooting.
To save a project file go to File -> Save project.
