Is it possible to "Arrange all models", leaving enough space to create robust tree-type supports later?

The tree-type supports look much narrower, when several tall shapes stand close to each other after applying "Arrange all models", compared to when I move them far enough apart manually.

The Cura 5.5 beta has an "Arrange All Models in a Grid" function.

But this mode leaves huge holes everywhere, even where they are not needed

What's the problem with that? They're far enough apart that the supports don't get in each others' way.
