5.6.0 and Linear Advance

Hi,

I have a silly question...

I have an i3 Mega S with the latest Marlin/Knutwurst firmware with Linear Advance enabled.

Do I understand correctly that with the Linear Advance plugin I no longer need a fixed setting in the printer settings (M900 K0.X), but that Cura takes over as soon as I activate Linear Advance and enter a value >0 for each of the different line types?

Best regards
Michael

    Hi "ahoeben",

    thanks for your promt reply...

For testing I must erase the M900 command from the setting I already set with Pronterface by the input "M900 K.0.65" - "send" - M503

    It's now listet as "echo: M900 K0.65"

Do you (or anyone else) know if there is any instruction to delete this line with the terminal tool of Pronterface?

Or can I leave it there and Cura will override the value?

    Regards

    Michael

I don't know enough about Proterface to properly answer that. But I though that Pronterface just sends the gcode file you select to the printer. So if you see it sending an M900 gcode command, then surely that would come from the gcode file?

    Thanks!

    now I tested it...

I saved a G-code for a part at a SD-card and opend the file in Wordpad.

In the G-Gode I can see these 3 lines:

    ;LAYER_COUNT:100
    M900 K0.650000 T0 ;added by LinearAdvanceSettingPlugin

    .

    .

    ;TYPE:SKIRT
    M900 K0.000000 T0 ;added by LinearAdvanceSettingPlugin

    .

    .

    ;TYPE:WALL-INNER
    M900 K0.650000 T0 ;added by LinearAdvanceSettingPlugin

I hope the Cura G-Code will overwrite the firmware settings I had done in terminal section. 😉

    regards

    Michael

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
