This sounds more likely to be a problem with your printer, although it's possible that a Mac with Apple silicon just doesn't have the drivers to establish a serial connection to the printer.
You really shouldn't be printing over USB anyway. Printing over USB is a legacy feature in Cura and no longer officially supported. You should use a memory card (or whatever sort of storage your printer uses) to move gcode files to it. It's much more reliable than printing over USB and can give you better results (like if the computer's processor is busy doing something and doesn't send commands as soon as the printer is ready for the next one, that will likely cause a defect).
