Hello,

I currently use Cura 4.13.1 on Linux (with an Appimage). I want to update to 5.x but I notice an annoying issue in the interface : the configuration panel is too wide (cf picture) :

I see that some tweaks could be made with a theme file. I tried to lower the font size but this doesn't change panel width. Is there somewhere a description of the theme.json file ? I couldn't find it. If there is another way to adjust panel size please let me know.

Regards

    For most of the Cura configuration files there aren't really any guides.

    In your case you're using the dark theme which inherits from the light theme, which means anything not specified by the dark theme (like sizes) comes from the light theme.

    So in the light theme, you need to change line 511:

    "print_setup_widget": [38.0, 30.0],

    I don't know what units those are off the top of my head. But the important part is that if you make the numbers lower, things get smaller.

    Hi Slashee
    First thank you very much for the time spent giving wise advises on the forum.

    Next your solution indeed works. For the numbers I notice that I have to multiply by around 15 to have the corresponding size in pixel. May be It has something to do with screen resolution.

    I have resized the panel with "print_setup_widget" but profile widget and font size should be adjusted too. Profile widget is "print_setup_big_item" (difficult to guess this one). I didn't succeeded find how to have a condensed style for the Noto default font so I changed the font family. Here is the theme.json content put in my profile directory :

    {
        "metadata": {
            "name": "Dark small",
            "inherits": "cura-dark"
        },

        "fonts": {
            "default": {
                "size": 1.0,
                "weight": 40,
                "family": "Liberation Sans Narrow"
            },
            "default_bold": {
                "size": 1.0,
                "weight": 63,
                "family": "Liberation Sans Narrow"
            },
            "default_italic": {
                "size": 1.0,
                "weight": 40,
                "italic": true,
                "family": "Liberation Sans Narrow"
            },
            "small": {
                "size": 0.8,
                "weight": 40,
                "family": "Liberation Sans Narrow"
            },
            "medium": {
                "size": 1.0,
                "weight": 40,
                "family": "Liberation Sans Narrow"
            }
        },

      "sizes": {
            "print_setup_widget": [32.0, 30.0],
            "print_setup_big_item": [24, 2.5]
        }

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
        (Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

        Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
