Posted · How to use Cura to connect to Ender-3 with a Mac computer

Folks,

I'm trying to connect a Mac and Ender-3 to use Cura to run the printer.

Cura doesn't seem to recognize the printer even when plugged in.

Has anyone made this work?

Thanks,

Please dont attempt to print via usb cable to any 3d printer.
Support for direct printing over USB is considered legacy and not actively maintained in UltiMaker Cura.

Direct USB printing is considered extremely unreliable and UltiMaker offers zero assurance that it will work with your configuration.

Hey there @wardd13. I do this but not with the ender plugged into the mac. I use a cheap system (pi or other small brick) that will run linux and Octoprint. Octoprint connects to the printer via USB on the brick, and Cura has a nifyu plugin that can talk directly to Octoprint.
