Your model is bad - it's missing interior faces inside the curved sections, and has a lot of extraneous faces elsewhere:

On Windows, Microsoft's 3D Builder app is actually really great at fixing things like this. You might also be able to do it something like MeshLab. Other platforms, not so sure.
