Render STL Files

Hi all,

I'm using DesignSpark Mechanical to create 3D objects. It's a great software (and free) but it doesn't have any rendering possibilities.

So i was wondering if there is anything that can take a file created with DS Mechanical (possibly the STL) and apply a cool render to it.

So if anyone here has some information on this i would be interested

Blender can. But not automatically, you have to edit the settings.

How advanced do you want the renders to be? (you could just take screenshots)

The renders on youmagine are made with Povray and some scripting magic.

Nothing fancy just have some lighting and shadows. Maybe some different colors for different parts (distinct objects)
