Hey All,

Hope you can help - i cannot connect to my printer

avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout

i have built a Prusa i3 > Arduino Mega 2560 + Ramps V1.4

printing fine > life was great .... i had to replace the hot end thermostat and at the same time decided to take the printer apart and polish the frame etc. .. make it more rad.

Got the new thermistor - finished assembly - now i am here with this error when trying to connect via Arduino : avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout

https://www.dropbox.com/s/nmmran0idsjpl8t/Arduino%20error.PNG

    I ran into the same problem (ultimaker 2 but should use the same arduino bootloader...).

    avrdude -c arduino ...

    quits with:

    avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0xe1

    avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 2 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x6e

    ...

    avrdude done.  Thank you.

    avrdude -c stk500v2 ...

    loops with:

    avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout

    Finally:

    avrdude -c wiring ...

    works fine.

    "-c wiring is just stk500v2 with DTR wiggle."

    Edit: Oops... the Makefile includes an avrdude section with he correct wiring programmer argument...

    I know the topic is super old but I want to give a solution so google can index it and hopefully help others.
