Hellow everyone,

I just registered for the UM-community as i received my printer this week.

I'am really superglad i found a place that is this bursting of information.

As a student of Ghent i'm dreaming to make a glass out of translucent PLA/ABS/PHA where words come clear when you fill it with a colored liquid.

I don't know if this is a realistic dream to get a print this clear?

==> I searched the forum for some answer but i didn't find anything satisfying.

Can someone give me some hope? :)

    Hi Matthias!

Welcome to Ultimaker. Your question is not a noob one. Its actually a ongoing topic that started yesturday.

    http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/6754-quest-for-a-clear-print/

You will find some info here about transparency. Basically the wider the thickness the less transparent it will get.

If this is for a glass please consider using some material that is food contact safe like Colorfabb XT and also keep in mind that no print can ever be 100% food safe due to leftovers from previous print and many other factors
