Thank you for the link Illuminarti.
I did a search on ebay, but I guess I've not used the correct search term.

Hello all,
Just want to share this, perhaps it can help someone.
I'm designing a new frame for my UM1 from aluminium extrusions.
When designing the XY clamps like the ones of the UM2, I ran into the problem that there's not enough space available in those clamps for a integrated belt tensioner.
To keep those clamps light weighted, I needed to find another solution.
Browsing the Internet I found some people are using springs of clothespins.
I've tried that but my belts went to tight causing more resistant on movement.
So I've been looking around if there are suppliers that sells those springs with less torsion.
Finally I found one and ordered 10 sets but at high shipping costs  .
Because my new frame is a work in progress, I've replaced my traditional belt tensioners in my UM1.
They work very well I must say.

Marlot,
-
Cannot order it from there website, I really want this stuff!!!
-
I will share it on Youmagine when it fits (like to try first myself  )
Thank you in avance !

Hallo Marlot,
Mvg,
Harold

That printhead is very interesting, are you willing to share the file with us?
Would be very appreciated!

Hi Harold
The cooling fan mount in your printer looks cool, is it available on thingiverse? Appreciate if you can share a link for download.
Thanks

Hello Nilesh,
Sorry for my late answer, I just saw that there were reply's on my post of June....
I've got the fanduct from blecheimer at the following post:
http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/2291-help-with-modifying-fanducts/
Pay attention to Valcrow reply about hitting the slider blocks.

Sorry to reply to my own post so late, but I almost forget about it because I made this post in June.
Nevertheless, thank you Daid for your reply, I already use the newer versions since 13.06.4 where those support lines don't hit the object itself.
I must say i really admire your work, I've programmed a few years myself an I know how difficult sometimes it can be.
Keep up the good work!

I'm using PLA90 from Orbi-Tech for that:
http://www.orbi-tech.de/shop/3D-Filaments/PLA/3-mm-PLA/Premium-PLA-90-3-mm-natural::280.html
It has a softening temerature around 90 degrees.
For a overview of there filaments and specs:

I'm also using ColorFabb XT, but more as a replacement for ABS parts.

Hallo Sander,
Mvg,
Harold

Hello all,
Does anyone know where to get a tailor-made MIC-6 alu plate in The Netherlands?
I need it for my heated bed expansion.
A lot of company's are selling different kinds of aluminium , but so far I didn't found one that can deliver MIC-6.
Regards,
Harold

Recieved the pulley's last week, installed them yesterday, working like a charm.
Thanx again Markus!

I'm really interested in the printable direct drive files Daid, if you could upload them I'll be very gratefull !
-
The Z carriage will also be build of alu extrusions  .....
-
no problem ......

Currently I'm building a frame of aluminium extrusions for my UM.
Intention is to reuse all the (non wood) parts of the original UM to the alu frame.
I also build in a heated bed with alu plate, dual extrusion, UM controller and the possibility to close the frame to make some kind of heat chamber for printing with ABS.
But all of that is a work in progress.

Harold

Ian,
I've tried to open a VWX file into several CAD/3D programs (ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, Blender, Maya and Solidworks), none of them can open/import VMX files.
Did a Google search, looks like that you really need Vectorworks to export it into another format.

Didn't print with Bendlay, something came up, I'll try end of this week.......

Hello Troy,
I'm going to test Bendlay this weekend, need it for a few prints.
Let you know the results and settings used.

I'm printing PLA on 20cm wide kapton tape on a alu HOT bed.
To prevent curling of corners with large objects, I setup the model to print with a brim , at least 6 to 8 lines.

I'm running with these springs for approximately 63 hours now, the belts are still tight!
If anyone want to buy a set, I've got some spares left, just send me a pm.
