  1. Hello all,

Just want to share this, perhaps it can help someone.

I'm designing a new frame for my UM1 from aluminium extrusions.

When designing the XY clamps like the ones of the UM2, I ran into the problem that there's not enough space available in those clamps for a integrated belt tensioner.

To keep those clamps light weighted, I needed to find another solution.

Browsing the Internet I found some people are using springs of clothespins.

I've tried that but my belts went to tight causing more resistant on movement.

So I've been looking around if there are suppliers that sells those springs with less torsion.

Finally I found one and ordered 10 sets but at high shipping costs  .

Because my new frame is a work in progress, I've replaced my traditional belt tensioners in my UM1.

They work very well I must say.

  2. Hallo Marlot,

    Mvg,

    Harold

  3. Hi Harold

The cooling fan mount in your printer looks cool, is it available on thingiverse? Appreciate if you can share a link for download.

    Thanks

    Hello Nilesh,

Sorry for my late answer, I just saw that there were reply's on my post of June....

I've got the fanduct from blecheimer at the following post:

Pay attention to Valcrow reply about hitting the slider blocks.

  4. Sorry to reply to my own post so late, but I almost forget about it because I made this post in June.

Nevertheless, thank you Daid for your reply, I already use the newer versions since 13.06.4 where those support lines don't hit the object itself.

I must say i really admire your work, I've programmed a few years myself an I know how difficult sometimes it can be.

    Keep up the good work!

  5. Hallo Sander,

    Mvg,

    Harold

  6. Currently I'm building a frame of aluminium extrusions for my UM.

Intention is to reuse all the (non wood) parts of the original UM to the alu frame.

I also build in a heated bed with alu plate, dual extrusion, UM controller and the possibility to close the frame to make some kind of heat chamber for printing with ABS.

But all of that is a work in progress.

    Regards,

    Harold
