  1. They are in random locations. I turned the metal ring beneath the teflon ring as far as it went. That was just a test to see if it would change anything. Right now the gap is 2.1mm. Before that it was 1.2mm I think.
  2. I tried both. The stock sppol holder (just now) and the spool on a lazy susan. No difference. Still occasionally underextrusion. I printed the same model with the same settings and filament.
  3. The thing is - I have never experienced a clog. Neither on the UM1 (which I already sold) nor on the UM2. And this partial underextrusion for just a layer can't be due to a clog right? At least I hope so.
  4. Ok status update. Tightening down the metal ring moved the nozzle up but changed nothing. Still underextruding occasionally. However this time I caught it on camera! The model looks like this: For the videos, make sure to watch it in HD Look to the right: Look to the left (a bit fuzzy, sorry):
  5. Guys, as soon as I have tightened the metal ring that sits beneath the teflon piece (at the bottom of the head), I have 0 play with the bowden tube. The metal ring has holes that one can use to insert something in there and turn it to the right. I didn't over tighten it, just went so far as it got and didn't force it. I have yet to print something - I'll post as soon as it is done.
  6. Ok good to know. I thing I missed the menu entry where I can reduce feed rate. I only saw "material flow".
  7. 60mm/s is too fast at 0.2 layer height? Why? I am asking for 0.2 x 0.4 x 60 = 4.8mm^3 filament/s. Isn't an Ultimaker supposed to deliver at least around 10mm^3/s? Ian was printing at 90mm/s with a 0.25 layer height without problems (http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/467-post-your-latest-print/?p=32926).
  8. Oh wait, forgot to add proper captions  Thanks for the hint and thank god I don't have to take anything apart...
  9. @ChrispCreator: How did you adjust it? I got impatient and tried a longer print. As expected underextrusion was there. Again not uniform, just in some areas. Something odd happened. On the back, at the top, the underextruded area appears only on the left side, although a layer is circular and was printed a once. How can that happen? Print settings: layer height: 0.2 shell: 0.8 bottom/top: 1.2 fill: 2.5 speed: 60 temperature: 230 I had to lower the flow rate to 90% because it skipped like mad. Then midprint it was stable and at the end it started skipping again. This coincided with the height of the underextruded areas.
  10. Ian is asking for 9mm^3 filament and that should be well within the limits of an UM2. I have printed at 75mm/s without hearing any skipping sounds (ironically though I did hear it skipping with my latest print at 60mm/s...)
  11. Hey Markus, it might be better to move your questions to a new post. This way we can keep the discussion on topic (and won't scare Daid away
  12. This doesn't work either. After I power cycle the machine, the retraction settings are back to default.
  13. I think it is time to contact support directly (Sander I guess). This issue is really annoying because (for me) it is totally random. I tried putting the filament spool on a lazy susan, printing at different temperatures, with/without combing, with the fan off or delayed and there is no pattern :( There are prints with massive underextrusion, some with only a little bit of it and some prints with seemingly no underextrusion unless you look closer. I am postponing all prints that are going to take several hours until I can fix this issue because I'd hate to waste so much filament just because some layers are missing. I marked the bowden tube at the bottom, right benath the metal spring. While retracting I saw the mark jumping up and down so the bowden tube isn't seated firmly and moves in the direction of the retraction. I will print a new taller clip replacing the red on top of the black spacers on the printing head.
  14. Back on topic. What do you think of the proposed Interface changes?
  15. +1 Make it an optional so "normal" users can have their pretty petty UI while serious people bask in the gory details. Here's the stuff I'd love to see: Elapsed time (only when print is finished) Layer number Temperature Speed Fan speed (until 100%, then hide)
  16. You could raise it. It is not like it would hurt somebody if too much love is spread...
  17. It would be nice and an useful reality check to show the real elapsed time when the print is done. Cura isn't 100% accurate and I'd like to record printing times for future reference. thx. @Daid: Is there a formal way/tool to submit bug reports and feature requests. What do you prefer? Github? Here in the forums (maybe special subforum)?
  18. There is a limit to likes for the day? Oh shiiii....
  19. Hi, Is it just me or do others have the same problem? I have set different retraction settings (maintenance -> advanced -> retraction settings) but when I turn the printer off and on again, there are set to the default (firmware 14.01.02). Is there a way to save them permanently or is this a bug?
  20. The thing is, I'd like to have the led's always on and still have it glow when done. Right now I can only have either. Ok, I couldn't differentiate between this low power grinding and the grinding sound that occurs durring printing. Don't worry. I is a nice to have. When you are bored and don't know what to do, think if this little issue
  21. @braddock: I don't know if this is such a good idea. If pieces of the teflon tape get inside the bowden tube, you'l get another clog/plug for sure.
  22. Take a look at this post, we are trying to find out what it is (link).
  23. Hi, I remember that one of the big things YM should bring to the table was the collaboration thingie. Someone has implemented it already in a very cool way (Github style). Ultimaker folks, this should be quite inspiring. You know the saying: Good artists copy, Great artists steal
