  1. And bam again. failed after a good hour. Perhaps it's pulling back the filament on a retract, slips and is unable to push it back quick enough. Causing the filament to cool, then jams when it tries to push it back. And because the retracked area is already worn down is unable to push it back. And the filament begins to curl. I am assuming this is it. also explains why my pushing the lever quick enough fixes it, because the filament didnt get a chance to cool.
  2. I was only having that issue after the fact it jammed. When I first put the kit together I had no issues. The insert new material feature is a hit or miss with 1.75 . it would load everything just fine. Feeder works and everything. it would just reach the end and get stuck around the teflon part. But I usually did it by hand and had no issues printing. A good 20-40 Hours worth actually. No quality issues at all. Then I started getting issues. I would hear a clicking or popping sound. And then look over and see the extruder not pushing anything out. I would check the feeder with move material and had no issues pushing or pulling the filament. I would even push it through by hand to check for clogs. All was clear. Start it back up and the same issue. The clicking sound came from the head area as well as the feeder. I figured the filament was catching on something, Perhaps bending inside ( sometimes it would snap ). or it would catch a point, Then I figured the tension pushing back went into the feeder causing it to grind or not push forward anyone because it was stuck. Then me pushing the lever was simply giving it a new area to grab. The issue was always easily spotted during the loading process or right at the start of a print because it would jam right there and not extrude. Sometimes I would have to hand feed it through the feeder because it was also jam right at the exit where it meets the tube. if anything I think the biggest issue is simply too much space compared to the 2.85. if the 2.85 got even slightly stuck on a bevel or edge the feeder would just push it because it's big enough. While the 1.75mm just bends and curls in the same areas. Anyways I changed the Teflon with the new one. For some reason the hole is smaller on this one compared to the one I got from you. I also checked out the green thing you gave me. Its a little shorter than the old one I got from you. So there is a tiny tiny bit of wiggle room. But it seems to be working. First time I loaded it, all good. Then I had to hand load it when I started a print because of the jamming. The print has gone well with no issues. I want to try to get a Bowden tube. I have read a few users putting a 6od in a 4 and a 4od with a 2in into the machine. That might help because right now the bowden doesnt fit into the teflon, it just touches the edge. Even if lined up , there is still a tiny edge inside the teflon for the filament to catch onto. If you can think of anything else that might cause tension on the filament im all ears. Honestly this isnt a problem to me. Im still learning and do enjoy taking it all apart and learning about it.The test print I made just came out perfect, better than ever. Im going to test a long print and see how that comes out.
  3. I wont lie. My main choice for getting an Ultimaker was because of the Design. It reminded me very much of my macbook. I by no means am an apple person, my main rig for life will be windows. But when it comes to just quality they make good products. I can't agree with that. We have owned 4-5 high end apple products, every one has failed pretty quickly from light to moderate usage. All overpriced for an extra kick in the behind. We won't be buying from them again. Some of the worst software i have used too! Too bad i can't say any better for windows OS's haha Must be using them wrong. I still have a gen 1 Ipod sitting around that works. My mom of all people still has her old 30gb Ipod and that works. And shes a total idiot with electronics. ( forgive me mom ). No, apple just sells overprice junk (and lie a lot on marketing). Considering i pretty much live & breath tech and I'm also anal about keeping them cleaned, cool, perfect working order, etc... i doubt i am using them wrong (i probably use them less than regular folks too). My mate works at a Apple store in Montreal. There alone he told me how many returns they have for defective Iphone's, laptops, etc, most within the 30 day too (quick swap) or right after (wait on warranty repairs). Their older stuff was pretty good, but anything past 5-8 years is garbadge. I still have my old ipod, that thing is still kicking, same with that shuffle thing (remember the little tag ipod that came in color?). But their iphone's, tabets and laptops are pretty bad. I think we just got unlucky with the PC though. Warranty covered the repairs (bad mobo). In all truth, it's like that for a lot of technology companies now a day (our brand new lenovo lasted 1.5 month, then the fan failed and 1 of the 2 RAM was bad, off for warranty repair... My old (old) IBM lasted 3.5 years before the HDD went bad and then another 2 years after that!), products are design to fail and parts are sub-standard (QC isn't what it used to be too). But at least with other companies I am not paying a insane markup. All i can suggest is to buy insurance/extended warranties with expensive technology now a day. You'll save hundreds (at least). @neotko Smartest move from Apple to have a Windows compatible PC/Laptop. Hilarious they had to do that though. As for BSOD, heh i'v had my share on older windows, haven't had one (a part from the odd one every 6 or so month) since Windows Vista. Windows has gotten a lot better, W7 is great and W10 is amazing. Will agree that Windows 10 is fantastic. I skipped 8 and stuck with 7 awhile. Windows biggest issue in the past was quality control. And it's not their fault that other companies cant make good computers and shove windows on them. Windows name has suffered over the years because of that. Am I the only person who has never gotten a BSOD? Or a Virus? I have owned my own PC ( first was a crap Emachine) since I was in the 6th Grade..... So about 2000/2001. Hell im not even tech savvy/programming wise.
  4. For me over in the USA the spool sizes are a tad smaller than even the ultimaker spool that came with the printer for the same price. Since Im starting out i was planning to just go through all kinds of materials to learn the quality and settings. A $20 spool of hatchback ( which looks great ) is much more sensible than a $40-$60 spool. And if im doing a bunch of BS prints for scraps to see how they finish, sand and so on it's a smarter option. Planned on keeping both, maybe even building another ultimaker type of printer and reusing one of the kits I have to have both options.
  5. This is why I say everything needs a remote controlled C4 security system. Just hit the trigger to locate anything stolen via explosion. Would work great on Motorcycles, Cars and Ultimakers.
  6. Im still waiting for the other 1.75 Teflons to come in the mail. But i swapped back the 2.85 stuff ( thank god for 5 min quick switches ) and started up a print. Right out of the box it loaded everything just fine. And it's printing just fine. It's something about the 1.75 kit thats not working right. Hopefully its just the teflon, I honestly felt no difference between the two. And I used the 2.85 stock one a good 120 hours of printing. compared to the 1.75 one. Maybe the off brand ones go back quicker? Maybe the 1.75 is too flexible during retracts? Who knows. But if anyone else is having issues I will posy again when i switch back over with the new teflon.
  7. Oh hey. Im kinda in the down point atm. Busy with projects for class. But I have been putting together my Plexiglass door and stuff while I wait for new parts to try out to come in the mail. The fan issue was me. One of the wires got stock in the black plastic. So it broke a little. So when it touched metal it was shorting itself thus making the other fan go into overdrive. Pretty straightforward. Fixed that with a little tape. Other issues.. I will look more into them this weekend. Im hoping it's just the teflon. I will try swapping back to 2.85 and see how that goes. Im assuming it's something small and stupid causing the issue.

  10. Stopped using the i2k, like stated previously. And have tried both the Teflon and the stock coupler with no difference.
  11. Anyone think they could webcam with my tomorrow and see if they could help me out? About 8 Hours on onward from this post.
  12. I love how you guys are jumping on this dude. Maybe he wanted to print with the vast market of materials? You know the 90% of the stuff you can't get in 2.85....
  13. The jamming was without the i2k. I couldn't even get that to work at first. I'm having many issues. this is getting to be very frustrating. Maybe one of you can help me out on webcam tomorrow or something. My issue is that. Without any change of settings and after a good number of successful prints. The printer when loading material will jam. It catches the part on the teflon. So I have been hand feeding it. No issue just had to hand feed it. But now during prints, the filament stops extruding. I hear a few clicking sounds from the feeder when the filament catches on something and thats it. I look inside at the filament and it seems to have a swollen tip and can no longer fit back down. I cleaned the tip with the atomic method and even fire. Still does it. If I turn off retraction ( with are at normal/ default settings ) The print gets a little further. But will fail unless I manually press the lever on the feeder. The feeder works during the " move material" option just fine. At this moment I have no clue what to do. I have a pretty expensive paper weight for the past week and a half. The machine is literally a month old.
  14. I think this is EXACTLY what is happening to me, I've had SOOOOOOO many failed prints lately and every time I take off the bowden tube I see a wrecking ball of filament at the end, which is too big to retract into the tube. Gonna also give the 0 retraction thing a try cause this is getting very frustrating. I might have solved my issue. Just gotta wait a few days. Did you upgrade anything on your machine? Im using the 1.75mm block. Might have found an issue with a combination of the Bowden,Teflon and i2k
  15. I use this tube: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KJDE67G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 I use this kit: http://gr5.org/store/index.php/um/1-75mm-conversion-kit-without-bowden.html And this: http://gr5.org/store/index.php/um/i2k-insulator.html ( I could never get this to work. the printing just doesnt extrude with it on. It extrudes just fine when i load material and right before the print starts. But when the print starts it just doesnt extrude. ) Will try no retractions real quick. I also tried cutting off a decent length off my filament. and use a fresher tip. Got through 1 short print. Then did the same thing on the next print. Edit- Two prints came out fine with retraction length and speed set to Zero.
  16. I have tried adjusting it both ways and still seem to get the issue. Is there a certain setting I should try? The settings I have been using like I said before were good for 60+ hours. So it's weird im getting this issue. The feeder still moves the filament when I'm using the move material feature. But during prints it just reaches a point makes a click sound and just stops pushing the filament. Everything else is moving still, feeder is still going like normal but the filament isn't. The filament like I said is being grabbed because it does have marks all along it like it should. When I look inside the head the filament is no longer reaching the hotend, but is not bent, or stuck in a way that implies that filament is being pushed inside anymore. Idk, all my retraction settings are standard, it's almost like it reaches a point to retract, makes that click sound and doesn't push it back.
  17. The coupler should be ok, I actually went through an entire roll and swapped my unit over to the 1.75 kit which came with a new one. So I havent even used the new one for a 3rd of a roll yet. I watched it, It seems to make a click sound ( just one ) and stops extruding. If I press the lever on the feeder it works again. I took it apart and cleaned it out.
  18. Recently my printer has stopped extruding mid print. Within 5 mins or so. The settings have not changed. I have printed some great things, and then now With the same material using the same settings is has happened. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1ya71IwpTg5YVVSaWRxNnRETFk Literally the prints before: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1ya71IwpTg5NU8zcnY3WEdTTGs I was wondering why might have caused this? Shouldn't be settings because it's all the same. I of course cleaned out the tip.
  19. I tried a smaller Nozzle and fixed it. When it came to it on other parts I just used my paint scraper to flatten the part as it went. Or a quick pause to allow it to cool
  20. Update: The .4 nozzle seems to be working better.(.8 was the other one ) It still had that issue, but I paused it, pressed it down for a second and allowed it to cool and continued it.
  21. I have been having this issue all day. I started this as a print of three. First time it came out great until it came off the bed. So I started up the next print, 100% the same and kept having this issue. On the Right side you see keeps going up higher. And this leaves a very ugly side. 50 seconds or so in and really shows at 1:18 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1ya71IwpTg5cjZVcTV2ZGJkdVk/view?usp=sharing I have used the same settings on other prints and have gotten great results. I have tried re-leveling, Turning down the speed, Turning down the flow, Turning down and up the temp. Turning up and down the bed temp. And it's the same exact thing. Heck I have even tried bringing other models onto the bed to more cooling down time between each part. ( had stringing issues when i tried ) Right now im simply trying a smaller nozzle and hope that helps. But any direction to the cause would be great! ( And yes both fans work. )
  22. I have been using hatchbox. It's about $20 something a roll, but it's 1.75mm, they might have 2.85, I never looked. Bought off of amazon. I have yet to notice a real difference. Check if they have a uk division.
  23. Cura version um.....15.04.4 Print Speed(mm/s) 35 Also print is tuned to go 90% of that
