Objects scaled wrong and show very tiny in Cura

Hi

A friend of mine gave me some STL files of something he would like me to print

When I open them in Cura, they are extremely small (like 1.3mm) and should be much bigger.

He put me in touch with the designer and he advised using NetFabb to fix the scaling or wait til he gets back to me with the corrected files.

I've seen this happen a few times before.

Is there a Best Practices or some tips how to fix this in Cura (or Netfabb)?

You can easily scale up the object in cura without problems.

Perhaps there's an error in the units, not using SI units or something like that?

I can scale up but not knowing what the original size should be...tricky!

Scale with factors 10,100,1000 and see which looks most reasonable.

If non of the above, figure out the funny imperial factors and try those

Paul, your friend did save the STL wrong in his 3D program.

There is a selection to choose from : millimetres, centimeters & meters. He has to choose millimetres for the export to STL.

Brilliant! I didn't realize that it needed to be in mm. Scaling the 3 axis in Cura by 25.4 also worked.
