US buyers, try Atomic Filament

I've been looking for cheaper filaments for my UM2. Being used to top-of-the-line stuff like Ultimaker, Faberdashery and Colorfabb, it was difficult to find any decent replacement. eSun was especially a huge nightmare, despite its low cost.

I tested out Atomic Filament recently, and it's been giving me decent prints.

It's $29.99 for 1KG spool with free shipping. Definitely worth a shot.

    ESUN it's only a difficult filament which requires patience and time to figure out the right parameters for printing.

    For me too, at the beginning, was a nightmare, but, after spending one week changing speed, temperature and flow (... with the great help of one of European distributor, La Boutique du 3D), now ... (25 hours print)

    ... and I would like to add that, today, after many prints, the only real negative point that I found on ESUN filaments is ... that they age even if sealed in their original packaging and, after 6/9 months, become brittle and difficult to use. :(

    So, don't buy more than you need :D

    Hey Guys,

    I actually just started distributing Atomic FIlament.  I am based out of San Pedro CA.

    I would really be interested in hearing what others have to say about it.

    Please let me know if you are interested in trying it out.

    Thanks!

    Nice print...I may give a white filament another try under a different brand. I can not get 100% good prints with the ColorFabb Standard white (same settings, different color, work great!)

    Sure ... :)

    In Cura ...

    layer_height = 0.1

    wall_thickness = 1.2

    solid_layer_thickness = 0.6

    fill_density = 20

    nozzle_size = 0.4

    print_speed = 30

    print_temperature = 200

    print_bed_temperature = 65

    filament_diameter = 2.85

    bottom_layer_speed = 20

    On the UM2 ...

    Filament Flow 105%

    ... as you cans see you have just to print slowly, temperature 200° and increase a little bit the flow ;)

    Try and adjust depending on the results you get ...

    Or try Makergeeks.com. The filament I've tried from them is quality stuff, and they are down around US$20-25 for a full Kg spool, shipped.

    Yes, I still use it :)

    The big problem with "esun pla" is that it actually becomes very brittle just after a few months since you bought it, so ... don't buy too much, but only the reels that you really use.
