Yes, you pay 19% VAT for a shipment in Europe. There is an EU law regulating that. If you are buying it as a company then you have a VAT code, and if you enter it the 19% will be removed.
stupid question but if a person is working as self employed in germany and of course is technically a registered limited company, does that mean that some where, every self employed person has this VAT corporate number ?
I havent a clue if I have one ??
Thanks guys.
Ian
If you are self employed a.k.a a freelancer, then yes, I think you should have a VAT code. In the Netherlands you get this when you register at the Chamber of commerce.
(That's about as far as my information goes, as I'm not a freelancer)
Hi!
As far as here in austria it's like this:
When you're below a certain value of money income (around EUR 4300,-- profit) with your bussiness (Kleinunternehmer) you don't need a VAT - theirfor you're not allowed to do the "deduction of input tax" (Vorsteuerabzug) and have to pay the tax as normal end users. Also you are not allowed to show VAT explicitly on your written bills.
When you're above this certain value or opt-in you'll get a VAT Nr. so you'll have to show the VAT amount on your bills - but theirfor you can buy things from other countries without paying tax.
Greetings
Wolf
thanks guys for the good clarification !
Ian
Add your country code (2 letter code) for international orders.

You can choose the option business to business when you make an account.
In that case you can fill in your VAT number and no taxes will be charged.
