Changing a print core, mid print.

Has anyone tried switching print cores while the printer is paused? I'd like to swap the BB print core for an AA and print with a different material at a specific height.

Is that even possible? I'm not sure if I even have access to those controls while it's paused...

Well it might be possible. But atm isn't. Ofc when the temp goes below 50C the system might allow you to take it out (if you did a manual atomic / filament removal while the filament was cooling down)

The part that I'm not sure if is the system would update the x/y calibration of the new core on the fly.

It could be a nice feature to keep printing if something went wrong. But it would need extra firmware since all the system has a lot of safewards to avoid a clog or damaging the core. For example if you pull the filament too slowly at certain temps you could actually cause a clog that can't be easily fixed. Ofc that's why the machine has a lot of heat/wait/cold procedures that are there to avoid problems.

Just for giggles I tried it last night,as soon as you pull the print core out,the printer gives you a temp error and you have to reset the machine.

Try again but wait the core goes below 50C. Then you can unplug them.

    Safety note: Don't do it!
