PLA recognition

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

just one question, to make sure that I've understood it correctly:

- If Ultimaker Filament Material is used, the printer and Cura software would be able to recognize the material.

I'm using the Ultimaker 3 Extended with original Ultimaker PLA Orange, but I have to teach the material in the printer and Cura.

Is there anything that I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi @Blomix-3D,

welcome to the forums! In the reelholder of the Ultimaker 3 is an NFC scanner, and it should read the tag in the new Ultimaker filament reels. They are white, and you should be able to see the tag in a cardboard insert.

Have you been able to read other materials, except PLA?

Are you sure the cable is properly inserted, as instructed in the manual?

Looking forward hearing from you :)

Designing for light-weight parts is becoming more important, and I’m a firm believer in the need to produce lighter weight, less over-engineered parts for the future. This is for sustainability reasons because we need to be using less raw materials and, in things like transportation, it impacts the energy usage of the product during it’s service life.
