Posted · Ability for Cura to read STL files inside a ZIP folder

The basic workflow is to find something fun to print from Thingiverse or other popular 3D model sites and then unzip the download in order to be able to load the file into Cura.

Can you look into the ability to read ZIP files? This would allow users to quickly get at the file they want without having to manually unzip. It would also cut down on file clutter with the zip file, the un zipped folder and all the files you have to track down to delete the download later.

I know MakerSpaces like our library would love this feature in Cura!

You don't have to convert a ZIP file, it is just a compressed archive of one or more files. So you just have to unpack the ZIP file and then you get the STL files or whatever in this archive is included.

I am not a Windows user, but as far as I know, windows can unpack (unzip) Zip files without a special tool, just double click it in the explorer window or do a right click on the zip file and select unpack from the context menu.
