Hi experts, I have just finished my Ultimaker assembly, with Ulticontroller. Now I want to start, but no reaction. Basic settings need to be done via USB cable (??!), which was part of the kit. But where do I connect the cable to the Ultimaker? Thanks for any help.

If you have an Ulticontroller you don't necessarily have to use USB at all, except for firmware updates, although the first run wizard in Cura can help with some basic sanity checks on the hardware.

The square end of the USB cable plugs into the bottom of the right side of the printer, near the power connector and switch. The other end goes into your computer.

thanks, this gives me some hope. Unfortunately I have the third hole near the switch but nothing behind it, just a hole in the side wall. I took the pcb board out but there is nothing on the back side of it.

But if I just want to use the Ulticontroller, I switch the power on and only hear the cooling fan, no reaction, the display remains dark. How to go about it?

I think you are missing the arduino. You can see it sticking out on the left side of this picture:

Yes, I have no arduino, and in fact I miss more parts. Only I was unable to understand and see this.

But now I was on to sales of Ultimaker and they are of course very helpful and parts are coming.

    Waiting is painful....Thanks guys!

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
