My three sons (aged 11, 15 and 16) and I completed our Ultimaker kit about five weeks ago. It was a great father + sons project and we've all been learning heaps about the 3D printing world.

The kit arrived much faster than we expected via DHL and the only draw back was the custom duties! I forgot to factor that into my budget ;)

In terms of printing we've had no major issues to date with the device and PLA although I can already tell we still have much much more to learn!

Looking forward to diving deeper into the forum!

Cheers,

Sam and the Boys.

    Hi Sam,

I'm in Forster NSW and am about to order my UM kit in the next few weeks.

One thing I have been wondering about, and seeing as you mentioned it. DHL, what were the customs duties/customs clearance fees like? They burned me in the past charging a bunch of fees even though the stuff I bought from the US was under $1000 and no duties were legally payable, they called me up and said they wouldn't deliver until I paid them $120. I've avoided them since, but if thats the only way to get my UM I guess I'll have to suck it up, but still trying to budget...

    Cheers,

    Paul
