UM2+ Dual extruder upgrade

Fairly new to 3d printing, and just received and tested my UM2+, i notice there is room for an extra nozzle besides the first one.
First thing that comes to mind is wether it`s possible to install the Extrusion upgrade kit as a second nozzle.
The kit contains more than you need, but you might get the possibility for a second extruder, or...?
Not familiar with the motherboard flexibility, software(Cura3.6) and compatability, but should this not be fairly straight?
And has anybody done this yet ?

Any thoughts on this idea (Might be far out here but...) ?

This is by far the best way to upgrade to dual extrusion (link below).  The original plan for the UM2 to do dual extrusion doesn't work very well at all and I don't want to explain why.

 

Your biggest problem with the mark2 is that UM stopped putting a driver chip for the second extruder on most circuit boards so you might want to look on the board to see if that is missing before going very far with the mark 2 option.

If your printhead has the hole for the seocnd extruder, the motherboard likely has the second driver chip. But you also likely have an Ultimaker 2, not an Ultimaker 2+.

 

The original plans for the Ultimaker 2 dual extrusion kit fell through because printing with two fixed nozzles is hard to do right. The second nozzle will be rubbing or scratching over the print while printing with the first nozzle, with a decent chance of knocking parts of the print off the buildplate. Any material stuck to either nozzle will smudge into the print. It just does not work very well.
