I'm not sure what I've done but I can't see the materials/filament selection on the main page. I've added custom materials and even activated them and they work but it's very inconvenient having to navigate into the menus to switch materials. I've even tried to delete the entire cura folder but the materials are still missing and I just can't figure out what I did wrong. I hope someone here can help me.

The Anycubic definition specifically says that the printer does not support different materials. The fact that you can see/create/activate materials is actually the bug here.

How can I correct or change the definition so that I can use the materials system with my printer? I think it is frankly crazy that it would say it doesn't support materials.
