Are you sure you have the 2+ with the removable nozzle?  The UM2 doesn't have removable nozzles unless you get an olsson block kit from someone.

 

Anyway, first of all you need to heat the nozzle to around 180C.  If you were doing it cold then filament probably solidified in the threads just like threadlock.

 

It's a 7mm hex nut.  Did you use a 7mm socket?

 

It only takes about 5 newton meters of torque to sheer the nozzle into two pieces so be careful.  You should never need to apply more than 2nM.  If you don't have a torque wrench you can use a scale (like a food scale or package scale) and use a wrench, measure the length to the fulcrum of the wrench - do a little math and feel how much torque your fingers are cabpable of.  For example with a 5cm wrench your fingers can probably only supply 1 or 2 nM.  With a more typical sized wrench you can easily get to 10nM.

    Thank you gr5. This is indeed a 2+ model, the nozzle has been changed before, and I tried removing it while heating. I initially used the wrench provided with the nozzle set, which ended gripping the nozzle as it wouldn't move. I ended up trying a socket wrench but the nozzle broke with the thread portion remaining in the printer. Would you have suggestions on how to extract the broken nozzle or replace the part?

    You can use a screw extractor but it sounds like maybe ABS got into the threads and hardened up over many hours (or hundreds of hours) of printing and it's locked in there permanently.

     

    I have one if you want to come by my house to try it out.  We live near each other I think.  I'll DM you.  I sell Olsson blocks.

    There do exist wrenches that grip on the sides of the nuts, not on the corners: these can be used to remove damaged rounded nuts and bolts. Search for "metrinch". If I remember well, the name comes from the fact that these can be used for both metric and imperial sizes. Anyway, be sure to use two such tools to grab both sides, so you don't apply torque to parts that can not handle it.
