Posted · Solidworks plugin can't find cura 4.5

I've just loaded Cura 4.5 and installed the plugin from the marketplace using the default settings.

Restarted both Solidworks and Cura

I get a message that Solidworks cannot find Cura on this computer.

Looking at the bug editor, the macro looks to the registry to find Cura - and this gets well out of my abilities.

Is anyone else having this issue, and is there a fix available?

Thanks

Heard the same from other people in the meantime, too.

The macro is written in VBA and contributed by Ultimaker years ago as they wanted to see this feature as part of the plugin.

However, it seems that they changed something to Cura's installer, so registry entries are written differently and thus the macro can't find it. The last time that happened was when "Cura" got renamed to "Ultimaker Cura", that's why I guess it must be something similar.

Update: I might have found a solution while I was able to reproduce and fix the issue with Visual Studio, but with VBA.Net.

Don't know how the same code will work in SolidWorks due to the .NET part 🤔

@thopiekar Keep me posted.  Let me know if there's something you want to try out I'm happy to test it out on my end.  Using Solidworks 2020 on Win 10 here.
