The 8.3 filename / print from card didn't work for me. I found the job just stopped, almost as if it had completed, but the extruder hadn't been moved away from the piece the way it does on successfully completing a piece.   No "Waiting for user" message on the screen.  I think it just said "ready".  I would estimate the job was about 15% complete.  I'm printing the same model via usb now, it's not yet reached the point that the last print failed, but it's given me the "waiting" message twice already.

The model in question has a pretty big build plate footprint, but when I was printing 4 face shields on a plate the, extruder moved further from the center of the build plate than it does for the current model.  However that may have been with the previous version of Cura.  Also I have a tendency to put small models near the corner of the build plate - meaning that even with these small models, the extruder was further from the center of the build plate than with this current model, without triggering the error.

UPDATE - I've been printing from USB port because the SD card slot was jammed. I got a USB extender and have been printing from the SD card for a week without incident.

Also learned what you all were talking with regard to reading &  sending "codes" to the printer. I downloaded  Prontoface to fix a bed leveling issue on my other printer after it was suggested on a user group for the Ender-5 Plus. I had no idea you could talk directly to the printer!

    Thank you for the help!

Snekmeseht - Was there an on-screen message when the print stopped?  If you open the SD card gcode file in Notepad what does the end of the file look like?  It should end with the M107, M104 S0, and other shut down gcodes as well as several lines of comments starting with ";End of Gcode".  Creality machines can be touchy about the SD card itself.  It seems they don't like high capacity cards and even a 8gb card has to be formatted once in a while.

There can be problems with the card that cause the gcode file to get truncated and the end of the file gets cut off.  That causes the machine to just stop as it runs out of gcode to act on.  When that is the case the only message would be the "Ready" message.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
