Posted · S5 not printing square lines

Hi there,

I had the suspicion that the S5 was doing something strange as whenever I printed a calibration chart, the top part of the print never lined up with the calibration card grid. I also have an S3, it does not show that behavior. To test that out, I printed a square frame and lined up the print to a grid. As you can see the left corner isn't square and the right corner is off even further. Has anyone had this issue?

Thanks!

    Hi pixelgun,

it seems your axles are out of alignment, supposedly one of your long belts is loose and/or has skipped a tooth.

    So you should:

    1. check for play of axles  https://support.ultimaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011529260-Check-for-play-on-the-Ultimaker-S5-axles  (normally not needed if the printer is new)
    2. check tension of long belts and eventually tighten them, as shown in this helpful video, provided by @fbrc8-erin
    3. aligning the axles, as described here: https://ultimakernasupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004168943-Aligning-the-Axes . Using dedicaded alignment tools, als for example these:  https://www.youmagine.com/designs/ultimaker-s5-axis-alignment-tool  makes the alignment easier and more precise.

    Regards
