Posted · Ultimaker 3 Z axis horrible noise

Hi ,

Our Ultimaker 3 is making an horrible noise :

https://youtu.be/f5y3N-z7RKg

At first we thought it was lack of lubrication but after even after lubrication  of all rods (threaded and non threaded) the noise is still there ...

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this ?

Thanks

Best

I've heard worse noises but not this particular noise.  I'm pretty sure it will print just fine but I assume it's bothering the nearby humans?

it bother people a bit (but its normal in a fablab ) but I would like to solve it  because it feels like  metal is grinding somewhere which is not good on the long term ...

old problem and maybe you fixed it, but sounds like you used the gear oil instead of the ptfe goop to lube the z screw

Hey Ke20. I had the exact same issue with my 2+ after greasing the Z-axis screw with lithium grease. I removed the lithium grease and applied PTFE grease, which immediately solved the problem. Hope that helps!
