Is it possible to use support block to cover the parts you want to have support on?

No, but there is a plugin in the marketplace which is called custom supports. I haven't tried it, but it should do what you want.

If I understand you correctly, you want to use the blocks as support.

 

If this is your question, then it is possible. 

Place your block on the model, then just choose the block. Then choose the mesh-type feature (5th on the left side) and choose print as support.

 

This works also with all other models.
