Posted (edited) · Ultimaker 4.9 Won't run on MacOS 10.11.6

Ultimaker 4.8 installed and runs fine on MacOS 10.11.6, El Capitan, which is the newest version of MacOS that my old 2009 Mac supports.

But Ultimaker 4.9 refuses to run, saying MacOS 10.13 or higher is required. See attached dialog image.

Since 4.9 only consists of bug fixes to 4.8, I don't see why 4.9 shouldn't be able to run on 10.11.6.

Please fix this.

Not all bug fixes can be backported, a number of the ones that we made are of that category.

In order to fix a few bugs we had to upgrade Qt, which no longer supports certain versions of MacOS.

Well then your software shouldn't have installed itself self-incompatibly.

In any case Cura 4.9 has left something behind itself such that even if I delete it and install 4.8 or even 4.7 it now claims neither of those is compatible with MacOS 10.11.6 either, when I was running them both on this machine at different times. What would that have been? and how do I fix it?
