Ultimaker 3 Extended printcore 2 problem

My Ultimaker 3 Extended is having trouble printing with printcore 2.  I have auto leveled twice with the same result.  The nozzle is so close to the build plate that filament won't extrude.  It does not scratch the glass but the glue is wiped clean.  I have verified the nozzle is not blocked - it extrudes when changing or loading filament and I have done a cold pull with a clean filament end coming out.

Printcore 1 prints fine.  How do I fix this?

    Hi @wmatchett,

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with you UM3E. Unfortunately there are multiple things that could be happening. Here is a couple of things you can try:

    1. It is very rare, but sometimes some material from previous prints can get stuck in the Z limit switch. This can cause the homing to be inconsistent and therefore the nozzle can end up too close to the glass plate. You can check this by raising the bed. If you look under it there is a small square hole in the back to the left side of the spindle. It might be difficult to see without a light if there is material stuck in there.
    2. You could try changing the screws on the bottom of the buildplate.
    3. Try to reinsert the printcores, make sure they are properly seated.

I hope this helps for you, if not please let me know.

Thanks for the info.  #`1 and #2 would apply to both printcores, correct?  As I said before there is only a problem with printcore 2.

    1. The Z limit switch looks clear - nothing blocking it.

    2. This would change the level of BOTH printcores, which does not help.  Printcore 1 prints just fine.  I did not change the screws.

    3. I reinserted 2 and it clicked into place.  The problem still exists,

Sorry to hear that it was not resolved yet @wmatchett. Perhaps the issue described in this post could be what is going on. Please let me know if this helps.

    Best regards,

    Jos

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
