Posted · Feature Request - Target Flow Rate Toggle Versus Speed

I'd like to see in Cura a toggle box that will automatically set speed based on a user input for a target flow rate. IE: Instead of setting a speed of 100mm/s at a line width of 0.5mm & a layer height of 0.2mm to get a target flow rate of 10mm3/s, being able to toggle a box to input 10mm3/s as a target flow rate with line with and layer height, and have it automatically calculate the print speed. Separate the parameter into the basic outer wall, inner wall, initial layer, etc.

Why this would be useful? In my workflow, I try to target a maximum flow rate for my printer to print as fast as reliably possible, as there's not significant difference between printing at stock settings versus a faster, tuned setting. I try to target between 8-10mm3/s because depending on the filament, that's the maximum my printer can reliably print at, but it's a little bit of a hassle to calculate speed values for parts of my print that require different line widths or layer heights, such as printing an inner wall at a greater line width, which requires slower speeds to meet my target flow rate. Having the target flow rate automatically adjust the speed would be very convenient. If this were implemented, I'd also like to see an integration with variable layer heights, so I can print the thinner layers faster, but still at my target flow rate.

This would also be useful for benchmarking flow rates for a printer, or more intuitively adjusting extrusion multiplier.
