Question Need help troubleshooting Cura issues

Is there a guide? I have some severe issues [see post, but there's other weirdness like marketplace install failing silently], and would like to just run down the basics. I'm looking for a list of those basics. 🙂 

 

Some google fu shows not much on the company website except this which doesn't help with the exception of knowing where the logs are located, which is good. Now--what to do with the logs. Is there a safe mode? How can I disable plugins in which config file? Stuff like that. 

 

Ahh just found the github wiki, that is likely helpful but no time to read the whole thing, and I don't yet know enough about the various dependent projects to know which of them I need to delve into. 

 

I am technical, I can read code, I just am looking for some pointers as where to look. TIA
