Posted · Why are my files ALL saved as texts?

I'm running Cura 5.1 in Linux Mint 19.3, and using a Ender 3 printer. Software appears to work fine except ALL my files end up being saved as a text file no matter which format I select. I have installed an additional open source program and successfully saved a file and printed it which leaves me to believe it is a issue in Cura. Can anyone help out an old noob?

Because the Ender 3 printer will not recognize (they don't show up on the screen) any files from Cura. I WAS able to open, save & print a file under "Prusaslicer". Under this platform, files readily showed up as a print option on the Ender.

In explorer, can you select one of these files Cura creates, and then press Alt+Enter. Post a screenshot of the Properties dialog that opens.

Can you manually rename the file to .gcode? As is, there is no extension.

(Sorry I assumed you were using Windows above, mentioning "Explorer").
