Might it be possible to have the outer walls divided into smaller layers which add up to the same height as the selected primary layer height, which would be printed similar to vase mode before the rest of the layer?

And might such a feature be combined with the arachne engine's variable line width to more closely follow the outer contours of the model, acting as anti-aliasing for outer walls?

I think the first part would be relatively simple to implement, being that it's basically replacing the outer walls with a mini vase mode print each layer.

The second part would be the big deal improvement in my opinion.

 For example;

When printing a 45° slope at 0.4 width and 0.2 layer height, instead of the outer wall being a single 0.4x0.2 line, if using a division of 2 it would print a 0.4x0.1 line followed by a 0.2x0.1 biased away from the outer surface.

This could be applied with any layer height, line width, and division.

I hope its feasible at least.

    This feature partly exists.  It is called "infill layer thickness" and does what you want from the opposite perspective.  The "layer height" is the outer layer height of the outer walls.  You set infill layer height to a larger multiple (e.g. layer height is .2 and infill layer thickness is .4)

    It only works if you have 2 layers with the same shape and doesn't do your fancier version of dealing with overhangs and other changes from one layer to the next.  But at least it's smart enough to detect this automatically.
