Cura Backup and Recovery

Are cura backups to the cloud portable?  I mean, I can connect my PC, log into cura website, open cura, and run a backup.

I can recover the same backup, as soon as I connect my new PC to the internet, and reverse the process.

When I create a backup, cura names the backup with a .ZIP extension.

Is there anyway for me to take a copy of the backup (.zip extension) with me to put on a computer that is never connected to the internet.

This would make the backup portable...

I know that I can export profiles and projects from cura.  but those are not as complete as the backup to the cura website cloud.

Thanks for your help.

    Hey @3D_RedPlanet,

What the Back-up plug-in does is create a copy of your configuration folder and load it when requested.
You can do the same without the back-up plugin
    !

    1. Go to Help at the top bar of Cura
    2. Select Show Configuration Folder
    3. Select all the folders in there and create a zip OR go up a folder in your folder structure and zip your folder with the correct Cura version
    4. Load the zip folder on an USB
    5. Open the Cura configuration folder on your new computer
    6. Load the contents of your zip folder on the new computer

That is a method I use for troubleshooting other people, when I need to make sure I have the same plug-ins, materials and profiles loaded.

This is what you will be moving over:

    Hope this helps 😊
