Cura 5.2.2 not launching on Windows 10

I have tried all the suggestions I can find to get CURA 5.2.2 to launch. I had 5.0 working fine before I uninstalled it. When I try to open the application now I get a brief view of the spinning wheel and then nothing.

Computer Compatibility

Acer Aspire R with an i5-6200U CPU@2.3Ghz, Intel HD 520 Graphics (Open GL 4.4), 8GB Ram, 230GB Available HD Space. I am not running multiple monitors.

Installation Location

I have tried both the suggested "Program Files" location as well as creating a file in the root of C in a "Ultimaker-Cura" folder. The second option worked when I had Cura 5 operating.

Security/Firewall

I  have tried running with the firewall turned off and there was no change.

Log files

No log files have been created.

Support Software

I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-22 redist x64 installed, Windows 10 home 2H22

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey @3DCoxie,

Welcome to the Ultimaker Community 🎉
Sorry to hear you are stuck 😖

I have a couple of questions to narrow it down.

    1. Do you have multiple monitors? Does Cura start if you disable one of the monitors?
    2. Do you have two monitors placed above each other? Can you try this workaround from the community? https://community.ultimaker.com/topic/42633-cura-522-stopped-working/#comment-318105
    3. Do you have GPU Tweak OSD overlay enabled? Does Cura start if you disable that software?
    4. Do you have a Ryzen Graphics card? Can you try this workaround? https://support.makerbot.com/s/article/1667412437627
    5. Do you have the Nahimic audio enhancement service enabled? Can you try this workaround? https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/12102#issuecomment-1157907665

    @MariMakes

Thanks for the reply. I am not running to monitors. My graphics card is an Intel HD 520 however I tried changing the setting as suggested. I don't have the Nahimic audio enhancement in the services list.

I reinstalled 5.0.0 and it appears to be working fine. Would there be a native file required for 5.2 or 5.3 that is not required for 5.0?  I get the same app crash EventType=BEX64 for both 5.2 and 5.3 but not 5.0.

      • UltiMaker Cura 5.3 stable released
In this stable release, Cura 5.3 achieves yet another huge leap forward in 3D printing thanks to material interlocking! As well as introducing an expanded recommended print settings menu and lots of print quality improvements. Not to mention, a whole bunch of new printer profiles for non-UltiMaker printers!

      • Here it is. The new UltiMaker S7
The UltiMaker S7 is built on the success of the UltiMaker S5 and its design decisions were heavily based on feedback from customers.

        So what’s new?
The obvious change is the S7’s height. It now includes an integrated Air Manager. This filters the exhaust air of every print and also improves build temperature stability. To further enclose the build chamber the S7 only has one magnetically latched door.

The build stack has also been completely redesigned. A PEI-coated flexible steel build plate makes a big difference to productivity. Not only do you not need tools to pop a printed part off. But we also don’t recommend using or adhesion structures for UltiMaker materials (except PC, because...it’s PC). Along with that, 4 pins and 25 magnets make it easy to replace the flex plate perfectly – even with one hand.

The re-engineered print head has an inductive sensor which reduces noise when probing the build plate. This effectively makes it much harder to not achieve a perfect first layer, improving overall print success. We also reversed the front fan direction (fewer plastic hairs, less maintenance), made the print core door magnets stronger, and add a sensor that helps avoid flooding.

The UltiMaker S7 also includes quality of life improvements:
Reliable bed tilt compensation (no more thumbscrews) 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi A 1080p camera (mounted higher for a better view) Compatibility with 280+ Marketplace materials Compatibility with S5 project files (no reslicing needed) And a whole lot more
Curious to see the S7 in action?
We’re hosting a free tech demo on February 7.
It will be live and you can ask any questions to our CTO, Miguel Calvo.

      • UltiMaker Cura Alpha 🎄 Tree Support Spotlight 🎄
Are you a fan of tree support, but dislike the removal process and the amount of filament it uses? Then we would like to invite you to try this special release of UltiMaker Cura. Brought to you by our special community contributor @thomasrahm

We generated a special version of Cura 5.2 called 5.3.0 Alpha + Xmas. The only changes we introduced compared to UltiMaker Cura 5.2.1 are those which are needed for the new supports. So keep in mind, this is not a sneak peek for Cura 5.3 (there are some really cool new features coming up) but a spotlight release highlighting this new version of tree supports.
