Help with a very strange bug after Cura version 5.1.1: the design is a simple block (block.jpg attached). Slicing with 25% infill in the new 5.3 gives the preview shown in block2.jpg: not the same block at all. The picture at a lower layer (block3.jpg) confirms it is not the right sliced version of the original design.

Now, using Cura 5.1.1 (the last version not showing the bug described above), picture block4.jpg shown the right sliced block. Pictures at 2 lower layers (block5 and block6) show how a right sliced design should be.

The problem does not replicate on my second PC. What could this be ?

Many thanks.

Hard to tell without a project file. (File -> Save project...)

It could be that your model is not manifold, and you have the "Remove all holes" setting enabled in Cura 5.1 but not in Cura 5.3. The "Remove all holes" setting is quite a blunt instrument, but it can have its uses in some cases. Just remember to turn it off again. The best approach is always to make sure your model is manifold.

Looking at the pictures again it could also be that you enabled the "Mold" setting. In that case, your model could be fine. Again, hard to tell for sure without seeing a project file.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
