The progress in terms of percentage and time is useful, but it would also be extremely useful to also have the current layer out of total layers as well. Nothing big or fancy, just something that says like "112/437" somewhere on the status screen while printing.

If you go to "Extensions / Post-Processing / Modify Gcode" and then in the following dialog select "Add a Script" there are two post-processors that do this.

"Display Progress on LCD" and "Display Filename and Layer on LCD".  Pick one and fill in the settings.  It will add M117 lines to the gcode to send the message to the LCD at each layer change.

if you are running a UM machine this solution does odd things with the LEDs, they start pulsing like the machine is paused. There have been multiple requests into UM to add this option officially to the firmware.......

I really don't understand why this is still not implemented... This is such basic feature 😕

This is really easy to benchmark what other 3d printers show on their screen and UMS5 almost dispend nothing useful.

Please... Add some layer count on the screen, at the very very very least. It's like driving your car without having the speedometer 😞

I have been asking for literally years to get the most basics added to even a separate stats for geeks type screen, layer number, some temperatures etc, I am baffled why this cannot be done. I keep being told it's 'potentially' being looked at.

How can you diagnose issues with you don't even know the layer number 🤷🏻‍♂️

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
