Posted · cura 5.0 and up have a problem with file links

i've used cura appimages since version 3.3 on debian with no problems

it's really great

i've been using 4.13 for some time and thought it's time to upgrade

i downloaded 5.3.0 and it's works except for one thing

the directory where all of my 3d print files are located is a symbolic link in my home directory

~$ ls -l 3d_printer
lrwxrwxrwx 1 jb2 jb2 25 Dec 28  2020 3d_printer -> /od2/data/3d_printer/

cura can load and save files with no problem

but the location does not get updated in the cura.cfg

[local_file]
dialog_save_path =
dialog_profile_path = slicing-profiles-master/SE300/Cura
dialog_load_path =

i worked backwards in the versions and this stopped working in version 5.0

i'm hoping this is just a setting i'm overlooking

    that does seem to be the same thing i'm seeing

    i'll see if i can sign up on github

    i think i'll have to stick with 4.13 anyway if i'm going to keep using cura

    i also found that support blocker is not working in 5.*
