New Extrusion / Adhesion Issue

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited) · New Extrusion / Adhesion Issue

I've been printing pretty successfully for a while on my Ender 3 with SKR Mini board.  Using CURA as my slicer, I typically have good results.   My last several prints have had significant issues.  I use a BL Touch for leveling.  Not sure what's contributing to this.  Replaced nozzle, no change...

Any tips/suggestions on how to remedy?

EDIT: Turned on monotonic (for the heck of it), and while it started from the lower right corner this time, you can see that the areas where the issue is manifesting is different..

I have the same Creality glass build plate and I'd get that once in a while.  A good scrub with dish soap and then a wipe down with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol may fix the problem.  I do that regularly and I haven't seen the problem since making it part of my normal "every three or four prints" maintenance.  I use Aquanet SuperHold hair spray to aid bed adhesion with PETG, but PLA doesn't need the help.

That's the main fix.  There is a slight chance that the filament has picked up some moisture and it is turning to steam and making bubbles that are pushing up the first layer.  I've only had one roll of filament that was bad right from the git go, but I did have the one. and it caused all sorts of odd problems.
