I use a Markforged printer at work.

This carries out a calibration of the x and y axes with each new layer.

Is this also possible with Cura? Are there any settings?

It would be reasonably easy with a post-processor. I can try making one if you really want me to.

Whether it's a good idea or not is another matter - I don't know much about various brands of printers, but I know with Creality printers the way it homes X/Y is basically cheap mechanical switches - it moves the print head until it hits them and uses that determine the origin for those axes. They can't be relied upon to give the same results every time, because they simply won't, it might only be a fraction of a millimetre difference, which is fine when you home them once because you're not going to be able to tell if your build a fraction of a millimetre in a different spot on the print bed, but you will notice if your model shifts by a a fraction of a millimetre every layer - each layer would be out of alignment with the rest.
