Posted · Print Model As Raft Pattern

I am printing my design in TPU and I would like for it to be a little more bendy. I found that a raft is the perfect ammount. So I made the model and booleaned out what the raft would leave out. the model was so complex it wouldn't export.

 

So is there a way for me to tell cura to print the entire model as if it were a raft? Ideally I'd like to have a couple areas print normally and everything esle print as raft.  But if that's not possible then then it's ok that the entire model prints as a raft.,

    Sorry, but a raft is only meant to aid with adhesion (and even then it's sort of a relic, bed adhesion has come a long way since rafts were common), not become part of a model. You can copy the layer height and line width and spacing settings from a raft (you might have to show all options to be able to see them) but since different layers usually have different settings it might be hard to replicate. I've been playing with TPU a lot lately and when it comes to the right amount of squishy/bendy it's generally a case of trial and error.

    Remember: small scale testing is your friend, no need to waste time and filament printing all of a model when you could just print a test piece.

    That likely wouldn't work anyway - it'd have a raft supporting the lowest part of your model, and then support between the raft to the top of the void you left for the raft (or if you turned off support, just a massive air gap, and TPU does not handle bridging very well).

    Having a few areas print differently is relatively easy: you just make a support blocker, click on the move tool then click on the blocker to make sure only it is selected, move, scale, rotate it into the right place, then use the "per model settings" to turn into a modifier mesh:
